Frequently Asked Questions
What does it cost to hunt at Zwickey’z?
At Zwickey’z, we believe in simple upfront pricing. You are charged for the birds planted. That is it. There are no membership fees or fees per hunter. This year for adult birds we charge $20 per hen and $22 per rooster, plus 5.5% sales tax. Black Pheasants are $30 plus tax for either sex.
What types of payment are accepted?
We accept cash and check. At this time we do not accept any credit cards.
Can I scratch hunt?
Yes you can! We do charge $20 to walk the field but then the first bird you get is free. Any brid after that is half price.
I’m I able to purchase birds to release on my own property or for conservation?
Yes! We sell birds throughout the year for conservation and for people to release on their own. Pricing on this does vary as we charge according to age until they are full grown.
Do I have to bring a dog or is one provided?
A dog is not needed however it does make things that much easier. We do have guides that work with us in an as needed capacity. They have and handle their own dogs. There is a guide fee if one is needed.
Where does the name Zwickey’z come from?
Zwickey’z is not a family name like most people assume. The farm is actually named after a dog. Family friend Kurt Honadale and Dean Hakes came up with the idea to create a hunting paradise for Kurt’s dog Zwickey. How Kurt came up with that name is a story best told in person. Ask about it the next time you are out!
How large of a party can hunt at one time?
We have hosted several large events at Zwickey’z. 8-10 people would be max per either field. If you have a very large group we suggest you take turns hunting. We do have a target launcher for clay pigeons.
Do I need a license to hunt at Zwickey’Z
As we are a game farm you do not need a hunting license to hunt here. We do ask that everyone that carries a gun has gone through a hunters safety class.
